Salaries start at $57,296 for Constables in Training and go up to $114,592 for 1st Class Constables.

Recruits begin their training with two weeks at the DRPS Education and Training Centre, followed by three months at the Ontario Police College (OPC) in Aylmer, Ontario, and additional DRPS-specific training.
After training, recruits are sworn in as 4th Class Constables and paired with Patrol Training Officers for guided field experience.

Valid OACP Certificate of Results
Ontario Driver’s License with ≤ Six Demerit Points
Vision and Hearing Standards as per OACP
Applicants must complete the necessary documentation, including an application, a pre-background questionnaire, and a personal history form.
Successful applicants will complete a blended interview assessing their knowledge of DRPS, Durham Region, and their skills through behavioural, situational, and knowledge-based questions.
Applicants are required to complete the Police PREP Shuttle Run by achieving a level 7.
DRPS will review your file thoroughly and confirm past employment records and educational transcripts.
Applicants are required to complete a series of psychological tests and participate in an interview with a psychologist.
Applicants are required to complete a thorough background investigation.
Applicants are required to complete a medical assessment.
